Главная тема дня в западных СМИ — обсуждение вступления России в гражданскую войну в Сирии. Большинство иностранных экспертов-аналитиков уверены, что ловкий тактический ход Путина, которым он отвел внимание от конфликта в Украине, обернется для России трагедией. Ведь это сделает Россию не менее привлекательной целью для террористов, как и США. С одним существенным отличием — в Америку попасть террористам крайне сложно, чего не скажешь о России.

Иностранная пресса положительно оценила выступление Петра Порошенко на Генеральной Ассамблеи ООН. Хоть и ничего нового Петр Алексеевич не поведал, но он в слух высказал то, что у большинства уже давно лежит на душе. Лицемерная и двуличная натура Владимира Путина должна быть предостережением тем, кто идет с Россией на какие-либо договоренности. Западные журналисты также следят за ситуацией вокруг суда над Савченко и над пленными российскими офицерами, которых Украина обвиняет в терроризме.

Мировая пресса застыла в ожидании долгожданной встречи Обамы с Владимиром Путиным. По мнению большинства западных журналистов, ни для одной из сторон эти переговоры не будут «легкой прогулкой» — слабые позиции есть и у Путина и у Обамы. Но болеть будут, конечно же, за американского президента. В Европе отмечается некоторое недовольство соглашением об ассоциации с Украиной, пока что для нас это ничего не сулит, но может свидетельствовать о назревании проблемы с ратификацией соглашения в странах Евросоюза, где оно не было ратифицировано.

Вся мировая пресса занята обсуждением будущей встречи Барака Обамы с Путиным. Особо отмечается отчаянное положение русских, которые уж очень явно добивались личной аудиенции с американским президентом. По мнению большинства журналистов, главная причина — экономические санкции, введенные за агрессию против Украины. Вторая новость дня — сегодня должны будут подвести итоги российско-украинских газовых переговоров, которые ведутся сейчас в Брюсселе при посредничестве Европейского союза.

Западные СМИ сообщают, что Россия создает на границе с Украиной еще одну крупную военную базу на 5000 военнослужащих и 1300 единиц бронетехники. Как и в случае с первой базой в Белгородской области, в российском военном ведомстве отказываются комментировать ее назначение. В иностранной прессе также отметили, что Александр Лукашенко подает все признаки своего намеренья наладить теплые отношения с Западом.
