Окружной суд американского штата Мэриленд отклонил поданный в сентябре адвокатом первой леди США Меланьи Трамп иск к британской газете Daily Mail о клевете. Об этом сообщает Сегодня со ссилкой на Associated Press.

По информации агентства, защита сослалась на нарушение формальных процедур подачи иска. Как постановил судья, окружной суд не обладает должной юрисдикцией для разбора дел против иностранных изданий.

Напомним, что в августе 2016 года адвокат Чарльз Хардер заявил о намерении подать в суд на издание за ложные и порочащие слухи относительно того, что в 1990-х года Меланья Трамп подрабатывала проституцией в Нью-Йорке.

В своей публикации газета Daily Mail написала, что уроженку Словении с Трампом познакомил державший в те годы модельное агентство Паоло Замполли, который ранее работал на миллиардера. Эта информация быстро распространилась во многих британских и американских СМИ, которые не удосужившись перепроверить достоверность сведений.

Стоит также отметить, что такие издания, как Inquisitr, Bipartisan Report удалили ранее опубликованные материалы и принесли свои извинения. В свою очередь, Daily Mail лишь аннулировали статью.
