Российская социальная сеть «Вконтакте» была внесена Министерством торговли Соединенных Штатов Америки в список пиратских ресурсов, о чем пишет «Интерфакс» со ссылкой на опубликованный на сайте ведомства документ.

В сообщении отмечается, что «ВКонтакте» оказывается в этом списке уже не в первый раз. Также отмечается, что среди других российских проектов, которые также включены в список, - торрент-трекер Rutracker.org и Rapidgator.net, онлайн-кинотеатр kinogo.cc, а также ряд других сайтов. В документе также говорится, что социальные сети могут служить «уникальной платформой для обеспечения взаимодействия как культурного, так и коммерческого».

В обнародованном сообщении говорится: «Большинство успешных социальных сетей делают это так, чтобы не содействовать нарушению авторских прав. Доклады «ВКонтакте» о том, что компания предпринимает шаги по борьбе с пиратством, вселяют надежду». В общей сложности в перечень вошли двадцать пять сайтов разных государств, которые, по мнению американской стороны, нарушают авторские права – в частности, сайт самого крупного интернет-магазина taobao.com, который принадлежит Alibaba Group.
