Президент України Петро Порошенко зізнався, що президентські перегони в Сполучених Штатах викликають у нього інтерес, як і в цілому світі.

Про це він зауважив під час інтерв'ю американському телеканалу Fox News, що вийшло в США у понеділок ввечері, передає Укрінформ.

"Звісно, я думаю про це, як і весь світ", - відповів Глава Української держави на запитання, чи приділяє він увагу американській політиці, й президентським перегонам зокрема.

На прохання ведучого прокоментувати своє бачення, Порошенко дипломатично зауважив: "Я покладаюся на відповідальний вибір американського народу".

Водночас він висловив переконання, що Сполучені Штати як світовий лідер "мають усвідомлювати свою роль та відповідальність".

У цьому ж зв'язку Порошенко згадав свій виступ 18 вересня 2014 року перед Конгресом США. "Я був дуже вражений унікальним відчуттям, унікальним рівнем підтримки та довіри, які американський народ, конгресмени й сенатори США демонстрували по відношенню до України", - зазначив Президент.

Порошенко висловив думку, що боротьба України за свободу та демократію певним чином об'єднала американських людей, незалежно від того, чи є вони демократами або республіканцями.

"І я дуже дякую всім американцям за цю унікальну підтримку України", - підкреслив лідер Української держави.
