Мін'юст США відкрив кримінальну справу щодо масштабного ухилення від сплати податків, про яке стало відомо після оприлюднення "панамського архіву". Про це повідомив прокурор Південного округу Нью-Йорка Пріт Бхарара, пише Guardian, передає УНІАН

За словами прокурора, він відкрив кримінальне провадження, пов'язане з даними "панамського архіву".

Він також звернувся з проханням про сприяння в розслідуванні до Міжнародного консорціуму журналістських розслідувань (ICIJ), який займався обробкою документів Mossack Fonseca.

Про фігурантів кримінальної справи поки не повідомляється. Американський Мін'юст це повідомлення також поки не прокоментував.

У "панамських документах" були дані про майже 200 громадян США.

Як повідомляв УНІАН, так звані "панамські документи" або "панамський архів", які містять конфіденційні документи панамської юридичної компанії Mossack Fonseca, отримали широкий розголос 3 квітня 2016 року.

Документи були отримані німецькою газетою Süddeutsche Zeitung у 2015 році. Протягом року международний пул журналістів під фінансуванням американської некомерційної організації Міжнародного консорціуму журналістських розслідувань (ICIJ) вивчав ці документи.

Документи охоплюють період з 1977 по 2015 роки. Основна тематика розслідувань, проведених на основі "панамських документів", - наявність прихованої власності політиків і пов'язані з цим конфлікти інтересів і дані про секретні офшорних компаніях.

Архів містить 11,5 мільйонів файлів, в яких згадується безліч нинішніх і колишніх світових лідерів, високопоставлених чиновників і відомих людей, в тому числі більше десятка діючих світових лідерів.
