Президент Сирии Башар Асад неожиданно объявил о проведении 13 апреля парламентских выборов в раздираемой гражданской войной стране. О решении главы государства сообщило в понедельник, 22 февраля, официальное сирийское информационное агентство Сана. Сообщается, что Асад издал указ, который включает в себя распределение мест для каждой сирийской провинции, пишет dw.com

Ранее в этот же день США и Россия в совместном заявлении сообщили о том, что они договорились об установлении перемирия в Сирии с субботы, 27 февраля. Достигнутые договоренности касаются только боевых действий между правительственными войсками и силами умеренной оппозиции.

В декабре 2015 года Совет Безопасности ООН года принял резолюцию о процессе мирного урегулирования в Сирии. В документе, в частности, указано, что в стране в течение 18 месяцев должны состояться свободные выборы.

Предыдущие выборы в парламент Сирии прошли в 2012 году, по закону парламент переизбирается раз в четыре года.
