Сотрудники Агентства национальной безопасности США (АНБ) вынашивали планы по нейтрализации анонимной Tor, а также активно занимались поиском уязвимостей в механизме ее работы. Об этом говорится в секретных файлах АНБ, обнародованных 4 октября газетой The Guardian, пишет Lenta.ru

Как отмечается в секретной презентации АНБ, сотрудники американских спецслужб изучали возможность вывести из строя всю сеть Tor, не занимаясь кропотливой работой по отслеживанию конкретных пользователей. В АНБ планировали внедрить в сеть плохо работающие серверы, которые сделали бы подключение к сайтам через Tor «медленным и неудобным» для пользователей. Тем не менее, этот план был признан неосуществимым.

Из опубликованных The Guardian файлов следует, что АНБ признавало, что полностью раскрыть данные всех пользователей Tor также не представляется возможным. Однако, судя по тексту на слайдах агентства, слежка за отдельными людьми, использующими Tor, вполне осуществима. Для этого, в частности, могут быть использованы уязвимые места в устаревших версиях интернет-браузеров. Одна из таких уязвимостей была обнаружена АНБ в браузере Firefox.

Документы, рассказывающие о программах слежки Агентства национальной безопасности за пользователями интернета, летом 2013 года были переданы прессе экс-сотрудником АНБ Эдвардом Сноуденом. Властями США Сноуден обвиняется в разглашении государственной тайны. В настоящее время бывший сотрудник спецслужб находится на территории России, где ему предоставлено временное убежище.
