Лидер «ВО «Батькивщина» Юлия Тимошенко заявила о том, что ее фракция «не намерена поддерживать никакие внесенные Порошенко кандидатуры на должность главы НБУ». По мнению политического аналитика Павла Нусса, не новость позиция Тимошенко, которая, в частности, и приняла активное участие в политической провокации против главы НБУ Гонтаревой, эти постоянные провокации могли и стать причиной решения Гонтаревой подать в отставку. 

По словам аналитика, работать в условиях постоянного политического давления на регулятор и на его руководство со стороны политического лобби украинских банкиров, которые по решению НБУ были лишены возможности продолжать «доить» государство. Горе банкиры, интересы которых в том числе и защищает группа Тимошенко жаждали мести и об этом знали все. «Лично я не вижу никаких экономических причин которые бы могли повлечь за собой отставку Гонтаревой, потому, что ее деятельность была одобрена всеми международными финансовыми донорами украинской экономики, которые, в отличие от украинских политиков, прекрасно владеют информацией о причинах негативных показателей на финансовом рынке», – прокомментировал Павел Нусс. 

Он добавляет, что популисты используют любые кризисы в своих грязных политических играх против государства, а внешнее наблюдение или же аудит кредиторов позитивного оценивал работу Гонтаревой. Падение национальной валюты в 2015 году связанно исключительно с потерей контроля над бюджетообразующими предприятиями в зоне оккупации.
