Президент Венесуэлы Николас Мадуро запросил телефонный разговор с президентом США Дональдом Трампом, и в этой просьбе было отказано, сообщает Сегодня со ссилкой на Белый дом.

"Президент Трамп с радостью поговорит с лидером Венесуэлы, как только демократия будет восстановлена в этой стране", – отметили в Белом доме.

С начала работы новой администрации США Трамп призывал Мадуро уважать конституцию Венесуэлы, провести честные выборы, освободить политических заключенных, прекратить нарушения прав человека. "Вместо этого Мадуро выбрал путь диктатуры", – подчеркнули в Белом доме.

Как известно, в конце июля США ввели санкции против президента Венесуэлы. В соответствии с ними, все активы Мадуро, подпадающие под юрисдикцию США, были заморожены, и американцам запретили вести с ними дела, говорится в сообщении Управления по контролю за иностранными активами Министерства финансов США.
