Премьер-министр Великобритании Борис Джонсон предложил британскому парламенту провести внеочередные выборы 12 декабря.

Взамен он готов предоставить депутатам больше времени на изучение сделки о выходе из Европейского Союза.

"Если они хотят больше времени, чтобы рассмотреть эту прекрасную сделку, они получат его", - сказал Джонсон после заседания правительства в четвер.

Но парламентарии должны согласиться с предложением о декабрьских выборах, подчеркнул он. Джонсон предложит проголосовать за внеочередные выборы уже в понедельник.

При этом ему необходимо заручиться поддержкой двух третьих голосов. Великобритания не проводила выборов в декабре с 1923 года.

Джонсон уже призывал к досрочным выборам в октябре. Британский парламент отверг эту идею.

Оппозиционная Лейбористская партия в ответ на это заявила, что не поддержит проведение выборов до тех пор, пока ЕС не предоставит Великобритании отсрочку.
