Ц Як відомо, куратором "Донских углей" є також кум Путіна Медведчук. Згідно з отриманою в джерел інформацією, правоохоронці встановили, що кошти, отримані від здійснення протиправної діяльності посадовцями ООО "Торговый дом "Донские угли" частково скеровуються для фінансування деструктивної діяльності телеканалів "112", "ZIK" і "NewsOne", які здійснюють системну діяльність, спрямовану на реалізацію вигідних Росії наративів у контексті легалізації військової агресії на сході України та легітимізації окупації Криму, а також на дискредитацію внутрішньої та міжнародної політики України. Правоохоронці також підозрюють, що представники "Донских углей" разом з ДП "Торговий дім "Східний Енерго-Альянс", "Міністерством доходів і зборів ЛНР" та іншими незаконними утвореннями створили злочинний механізм придбання кам'яного вугілля, видобутого на окупованих територіях Луганщини, його реалізації енергогенеруючим компаніям РФ із сплатою відповідних податків до бюджету "ЛНР", подальшого використання отриманих прибутків для здійснення терористичних актів, а також підтримання діяльності псевдореспубліки. 

З огляду на все це СБУ 2 лютого відкрило кримінальне провадження за ст.258-5 "Фінансування тероризму".
