По словам Google группа, имеющая связь с Кремлем, потратила $4700 на рекламу в рамках кампании по дезинформации во время президентских выборов в США 2016 года. Российские группы также создали 18 YouTube-каналов и загрузили 1108 англоязычных видео, которые сгенерировали 309000 просмотров во время выборов, передает MMR.ua

В свою очередь, Facebook и Twitter раскрыли данные исследований о российской пропаганде на своих платформах.

По данным Facebook, российские аккаунты охватили 126 милн людей. Twitter обнаружил у себя 2700 аккаунтов, имеющих отношение к России. Google также отмечает, что рекламные деньги в сумме $4700 пришли от Internet Research Agency, которую американские спецслужбы называют группой «профессиональных троллей» с близкими связями с российской спецлужбой. Неясно, исходили ли аккаунты в YouTube из этого же источника, но Google отмечает, что они «вполне вероятно имели отношение к кампании». Реклама тоже не таргетировала определенных пользователей.  В настоящее время Google не предоставил деталей относительно контента рекламы и видео. Компания планирует продолжить расследование и запустить «новые инициативы для предоставления большей прозрачности и безопасности».
