Сенаторка-демократ Джин Шахін (Jeanne Shaheen) внесла на розгляд Сенату законопроект, який вимагає у Мін'юсту США провести розслідування щодо російського телеканалу RT, передає Media Sapiens
 

Мін'юст має перевірити чи не порушує RT закон, що визначає правила діяльності закордонних агентів на території Америки. «У нас є вагомі причини вважати, що RT News координує з урядом Росії поширення дезінформації та підрив нашого демократичного процесу. Американська громадськість має право знати, чи це так. RT News публічно завляла, що може уникнути наших законів, використовуючи компанії-прокладки, і настав час Мін'юсту провести розслідування», - йдеться у заяві сенаторки.

Також у заяві згадується доповідь Дирекції національної розвідки (Director of National Intelligence) під назвою «Оцінка дій Росії та її намірів під час виборів у США». У ній розвідка дійшла висновку, що посадовці RT News структурували дочірні організації таким чином, щоб оминути вимоги американського закону про діяльність закордонних агентів у частині звітності.

Законопроект, внесений Джин Шахін, дасть Мін'юсту США повноваження вимагати від телеканалу RT документи про його джерела фінансування та зовнішні зв'язки.
