Бывший госсекретарь США Джон Керри станет экспертом Фонда Карнеги в Вашингтоне. Об этом в четверг, 2 марта, сообщил в среду президент организации Уильям Бернс, передает Сегодня

По его словам, опыт Керри чрезвычайно необходимо Фонду. "Приверженность Джона Керри миру во всем мире отвечает миссии Фонда Карнеги", — подчеркнул Бернс, который некогда был заместителем Керри.

Сообщается, что бывший госсекретарь сосредоточится на проблемах решения международных конфликтов и вызовов в области охраны окружающей среды.

В середине февраля стало известно, что дипломат присоединится к преподавательскому составу Йельского университета. Выпускник Йеля 1966 года будет руководить проектом "Инициатива Керри", посвященным мировой политике.

Джону Керри 73 года. Он занимал пост государственного секретаря США с 1 февраля 2013 года и покинул его 20 января 2017-го после того, как администрация Барака Обамы передала властные полномочия команде Дональда Трампа. Преемником Керри стал Рекс Тиллерсон.

Фонд Карнеги — частная, некоммерческая организация, своей основной задачей объявившая содействие сотрудничеству между странами. Был основан в 1910 году, назван по имени американского бизнесмена Эндрю Карнеги, 11 мая 1903 года выписавшего чек на 1,5 миллиона долларов для строительства Дворца мира. В Вашингтоне располагается головное отделение организации.
