«Я повідомляю про складення повноважень мого уряду, складення моїх повноважень. Вам знову потрібно вирішити, чи можемо ми продовжувати нашу політику, шлях, яким ми зараз йдемо, в переговорах з кредиторам. Вам належить вирішити, чи надасте ви нам ще однин мандат. Вам вирішувати», – заявив Ципрас.

Він оголосив про проведення дострокових виборів 20 вересня і закликав знову голосувати за партію СІРІЗА, щоб уряд зміг продовжити свою політику.

Під час свого виступу Ципрас підкреслив, що нинішній уряд зміг досягти прийнятних умов угоди з кредиторами.

За його словами, Афіни змогли відстояти свою позицію з низки питань.

«Вони [кредитори] вимагали додаткових скорочень в держсекторі, секторі охорони здоров’я – ми на це не пішли. [...] Кредитори вимагали приватизації енергокомпаній – ми це не прийняли», – сказав прем’єр.

«Ми боролися за те, щоб заходи жорсткої економії були менш жорсткими. Попередній уряд навпаки приймав все більш і більш жорсткі заходи, тому країна перебувала у важкій ситуації», – заявив Ципрас.
