Губернатор Луизианы Бобби Джиндал (Bobby Jindal) объявил в среду, 24 июня, что будет баллотироваться на пост президента США в 2016 году, сообщает Лента.ру.

44-летний политик готов выдвигаться от Республиканской партии.

Джиндал родился в семье иммигрантов из Индии. Был назван индийским именем Пиюш, но с детства носит имя Бобби — в честь одного из персонажей телешоу The Brady Bunch. Он является первым губернатором США южноазиатского происхождения.

О намерении стать кандидатом в президенты США от республиканцев 16 июня объявил мультимиллиардер Дональд Трамп. Всего в президентской гонке от этой партии решили поучаствовать уже 13 человек. По опросу общественного мнения, на первом месте — бывший губернатор Флориды Джеб Буш, брат 43-го президента США Джорджа Буша-младшего.

Побороться за пост главы государства решили четыре демократа, среди которых бывшая первая леди Хиллари Клинтон.

Выборы в США пройдут 8 ноября 2016 года. В июле Демократическая и Республиканская партии проведут Национальные конвенты, на которых будут выбраны партийные кандидаты. Действующий президент США Барак Обама по конституции не может выдвигаться на третий срок.
