Американський президент написав на своїй сторінці в соціальній мережі Twitter, що насправді він говорив не про теракти в Швеції, а про мігрантів, яких в країні останнім часом побільшало. Трамп зауважив, що інформацію про підвищену злочинність в країні, спричинену набігами біженців, було наведено в програмі Fox News, яку він і переглянув. Офіційне представництво Білого дому також надало коментар стосовно слів американського лідера, уточнивши, що Дональд Трамп говорив лише про підвищення злочинності в Швеції на тлі збільшення кількості мігрантів в країні. 

Нагадаємо, раніше Дональд Трамп під час свого виступу у Флориді агітував населення за підвищення охорони безпеки в США. В якості прикладу він згадав серію європейських терактів та збільшення кількості мігрантів в Швеції. Його слова про Швецію та теракти багато хто зрозумів як згадку про неіснуючий теракт напередодні. Це визвало шквал критики та насмішок в адресу 45-го президента Сполучених Штатів Америки. Екс-глава уряду Швеції Карл Більд, не підбираючи слів, заявив на своїй сторінці в Twitter, що «Трамп наче щось курив перед своїм виступом».
