Суддя зобов'язав президента Дональда Трампа виплатити $2 млн на рахунок благодійних організацій як штраф за неправомірне використання власного благодійного фонду для просування своїх політичних та бізнес-інтересів.

Трамп у юридичній заяві визнав, що він дозволив своїм співробітникам президентської кампанії координувати діяльність з Фондом Трампа у проведенні збору коштів для ветеранів під час передвиборних заходів у штаті Айова 2016 року. Подія була покликана "продовжувати політичну кампанію пана Трампа".

Зазначається, що штраф Трампа та кошти благодійної організації будуть розподілені рівномірно серед восьми організацій, включно з організаторами обідів для безпритульних, Фондом негритянських коледжів і Меморіальним музеєм Голокосту у США.

Фонд Трампа заявив, що задоволений цими рішеннями, стверджуючи, що суддя "визнав, що кожна копійка, яку коли-небудь піднімала Фонд Трампа, була спрямована на допомогу тим, хто цього потребує".
