Ведучий заявив у шоу Fox and Friends, що інфекційних організмів немає, бо їх не можна побачити оком.

"Я не бачу їх, а отже, їх не існує", - сказав Хегсет.

Його колеги розсміялися у відповідь.

Він також заявив, що у 2019 році він говоритиме в ефірі те, що говорить поза ефіром - не на камеру.

Пізніше ведучий зазначив - думав, що його слова сприймуть як жарт. 

"Ми живемо в суспільстві, у якому люди ходять з великими пляшками Purell (дезінфікуючий засіб для рук - ред.) у своїх кишенях і вони дезінфікують руки 19 тисяч разів на день, ніби це врятує їхнє життя", - сказав він.

Він додав, що піклується про себе, утім не зациклюється на митті рук увесь час. Його також здивувала реакція людей, які, за його словами, сприйняли все "буквально та серйозно". Втім, як жарт, він поширив у Twitter пост користувача з хештегом "не мий".
