Служба протокола правительства Украины перепутала флаги Швейцарии и Дании, в результате чего главу государства, прибывшего с официальным визитом в Киев, встретили флагом другой страны. Президент Швейцарии Дидье Буркхальтер указал на ошибку премьер-министру Украины Арсению Яценюку сразу перед протокольным рукопожатием. Буркхальтер, сообщают швейцарские СМИ, воспринял случившееся с юмором.

Флаги Дании и Швейцарии действительно похожи по описанию: белый крест на красном фоне. Однако швейцарский крест имеет другую форму, как и сам флаг.

Буркхальтер прибыл на Украину вместе с наблюдательной миссией ОБСЕ. После встречи с Яценюком и министром иностранных дел Украины Андреем Дещицей он отправился в Одессу.
