В связи с широкой редакционной реструктуризацией и снижением доходов американская ежедневная газета The Wall Street Journal прекращает выпуск печатной версии в Европе и Азии. В Европе последний номер вышел сегодня, 29 сентября, а в Азии выйдет 7 октября.

Как пишет The Guardian, такое решение медиакорпорацияNews Corp., владеющая издание, приняла, отчитавшись о прибылях и убытках за фискальный год, который закончился 30 июня. Так, за последний год копания потеряла $643 млн при прибыли в размере $235 млн годом ранее.

Несмотря на потери, цифровые подписки газеты все растут, поэтому WSJ планирует сосредоточиться на том, чтобы побудить клиентов в Азии и Европе читать ее в интернете. Это позволит сделать выпуск иностранных изданий более рентабельным, ожидают в издании.

Напомним, история европейской версии WSJ началась в 1983 году, а азиатской – в 1976 году.
