Під час інтерв’ю одного з німецьких видань президент України Петро Порошенко анонсував проведення в країні референдуму щодо приєднання до НАТО, повідомляє PRпортал. Український лідер наголосив, що ще чотири роки тому лише 16% громадян підтримували таку ідею, а зараз підтримати вступ країни до Альянсу готові вже більше половини українців. «Як керівник держави я покладаюся на точку зору моїх співвітчизників і маю намір провести референдум відносно перспективи членства України в НАТО», - наголосив Порошенко у відповідь на запитання журналіста, чи вважає він вступ до Альянсу реалістичним завданням для Києва. 

На переконання українського лідера, перш за все в даному питанні вкрай важливо знати думку пересічних громадян. Зазначимо: не так давно Порошенко висловлював припущення, що ВСУ потрібно 6 чи 7 років для досягнення стандартів НАТО. 

Ще в травні минулого року, під час засідання РНБО, відбулося схвалення Стратегічного оборонного бюлетеня, яким передбачається повне реформування українських збройних сил, щоб у майбутньому країна могла приєднатися до НАТО. Згідно документу, всі заходи для цього повинні бути завершеними до 2020 року.
