У столиці Бельгії Брюсселі оголосили про скасування масових святкувань Нового року і планованих салютів через загрозу терористичних актів.

Як повідомив мер міста Іван Маєр, це рішення ухвалили ввечері після консультацій із представниками урядового Кризового центру, врахувавши результати аналізу ризиків.

За його словами, минулого року в таких святкуваннях узяли участь сто тисяч осіб, тому краще не ризикувати, бо «кожного не перевіриш».

Попереднього дня, у вівторок, 29 грудня, федеральна прокуратура Бельгії повідомила про затримання двох осіб за підозрою у причетності до планування нападів на визначні місця Брюсселя в перебігу новорічних святкувань.

За повідомленнями, затриманих не вважають пов’язаними з призвідниками нападів у Парижі в листопаді, багато з яких жили в Бельгії. Але, як припускають посадовці протитерористичних органів Бельгії, плановані напади у Брюсселі були задумані під впливом ідей екстремістського угруповання «Ісламська держава», хоч і без вказівок від цього угруповання.
