Представники кандидата в президенти США від Республіканської партії Дональда Трампа не відповіли на запрошення про зустріч із президентом України Петром Порошенко у Нью-Йорку.

Про це повідомляє Європейська правда з посиланням на  Foreign Policy.

За даними видання, Адміністрація президента Україна надіслала запит про зустріч у кулуарах Генасамблеї ООН Дональду Трампу та його суперниці у боротьбі за посаду президента США Гілларі Клінтон.

Представник АП повідомив, що тільки Клінтон погодилися на зустріч, яка відбулася у понеділок. Від Трампа чіткої відповіді так і не надійшло.

Штаб Трампа не надав коментаря щодо цієї ситуації на момент публікації. Але згідно із графіком публічних виступів кандидат, він вже відправився у Північну Кароліну, і є плани, що він відвідає Огайо і Пенсільванію до кінця тижня, а отже Трампа не буде в Нью-Йорку, де засідання ООН закінчується 26 вересня.

Клінтон зустрілася в понеділок з Порошенком, і вони обговорили важливість продовження санкцій, введених відносно Москви після вторгнення і анексії Росією Криму в 2014 році.

Порошенко подякував Клінтон за її постійну підтримку України в ході триваючого конфлікту, "лідери погодилися, що солідарність з Україною є дуже важливим у протидії російській агресії".

Як відомо, Трамп неодноразово висловлювався на підтримку президента РФ Володимира Путіна, а нещодавно заявив, що російський президент краще керує своєю країною, ніж Барак Обама у США.
