Соединенные Штаты Америки не признают легитимность выборов в парламент Сирии, прошедших 13 апреля, поскольку страна охвачена войной и терроризмом, заявил официальный представитель Государственного департамента США Джон Кирби.

“Сложно представить, насколько прошедшие сейчас парламентские выборы в Сирии можно считать заслуживающими доверия, честными или даже свободными”, - цитирует Кирби Euronews.

При этом он добавил, что жители Сирии подвергаются атакам со стороны собственного правительства. “Честно говоря, несколько миллионов сирийцев даже не находятся в стране, они не участвовали в этих выборах, потому что им пришлось покинуть свои дома”, - добавил Кирби.

По его словам, в Госдепе США считают, что предпосылки для честных выборов можно обеспечить путем возвращения к Женевским переговорам.

Напомним, 13 апреля в Сирийской арабской республике прошли выборы Народного совета.

Из-за высокой явки выборы в парламент Сирии были продлены на пять часов - до полуночи.
