У п'ятницю, 9 травня, в окупованому Донецьку пройшла акція Безсмертний полк, суть якої полягає в марші з табличками, на яких зображені радянські військові, які брали участь у Другій світовій війні.

Дану ініціативу вперше в 2011 році запропонували томські журналісти, які зазначили, що з часом в параді Перемоги бере участь все менше ветеранів, і запропонували під час заходів 9 травня нести їх портрети.

Втім, через якийсь час ця акція була взята на озброєння Кремлем і швидко перетворилася на черговий прояв пропаганди.

При цьому в проросійській терористичної організації "ДНР" її зрозуміли по-своєму.

Так, у Донецьку ватажок бойовиків Олександр Захарченко замість портрета ветерана Другої світової виніс фото терориста Арсена Павлова на прызвисько Моторола, а один з його поплічників ніс поруч зображення Михайла Товстих, відомого як Гіві.
