російський олігарх Алішер Усманов був обраний президентом Міжнародної федерації фехтування (FIE), незважаючи на санкції, накладені на нього, -  Bloomberg

Усманов, який очолював федерацію з 2008 року, знову взяв на себе керівництво після того, як здобув підтримку 120 з 156 країн-членів на виборах у Ташкенті. 

Однак санкції залишають йому обмеження, зокрема, заборону на роботу у Швейцарії та відвідування міжнародних змагань, зокрема Олімпійських ігор 2028 року.

Водночас Федерація фехтування України заявила, що вся українська фехтувальна спільнота обурена рішенням обрати Усманова главою FIE. 

У ФФУ вважають, що проведення конгресу FIE у Ташкенті, рідному місті Усманова, а також завчасне поширення керівництвом організації листа про підтримку бізнесмена більш ніж 100 національними федераціями свідчило про «заздалегідь написаний сценарій»
