Накануне Дня независимости Украины президент Литвы Даля Грибаускайте записала поздравление на украинском языке.

"23 года назад Украина всему миру показала, что свое государство украинцы творят сами. Защищать свою свободу, свое государство - обязанность каждого человека. Литва выборола свою свободу четверть столетия назад.Нам помогло единение людей и желание не разрешить чужим силам руководить в нашем государстве. Вы, украинцы, также выбрали европейский путь. И сегодня боретесь за право жить в демократической и независимой стране. Желаю вам единства, силы и решительности идти по выбранному пути. От имени всего литовского народа еще раз поздравляю вас! Пусть в Украину как можно скорее возвратится мир. Дорогие украинцы, поздравляю вас с Днем независимости! Слава Украине!", - говорит лидер Литвы в видеообращении. 

Ранее издание Новое время сообщило, что накануне Дня Независимости Украину посетит Ангела Меркель.

"Визит канцлера запланирован накануне национального праздника. Это будет необычный визит. Этот визит стал результатом очень тесных личных контактов президента Украины и канцлера Германии", - заявил министр.

По словам главы внешнеполитического ведомства, визит Меркель в Киев - это проявление поддержки Украины со стороны канцлера и всего ЕС.
