WhatsApp передаст номера телефонов своих пользователей в Facebook. Соцсеть в свою очередь будет использовать их для отправки пользователям мессенджера «более релевантных» предложений и рекламных объявлений от различных компаний и организаций, сообщает Би-би-си. Это первое изменение политики конфиденциальности мессенджера после того, как он был куплен компанией Facebook в 2014 году.

В сообщении WhatsApp, опубликованном в блоге компании, говорится, что данная мера поможет пользователям «в общении с интересующими организациями без сторонних рекламных баннеров и спама».

«Дальнейшее сотрудничество с Facebook поможет нам более эффективно изучать основные метрики о том, как часто люди пользуются нашими услугами и как лучше бороться со спамом в WhatsApp. В случае соединения вашего номера с системами Facebook соцсеть может предложить более точные рекомендации друзей и показ соответствующих объявлений, если у вас есть аккаунт с ними. Например, вы можете увидеть объявление от компании, которая вам интересна, а не от того, о ком вы никогда не слышали», — говорится в сообщении.

WhatsApp уверяет, что сами сообщения в мессенджере «останутся частными и никто не сможет их прочесть». «Ни WhatsApp, ни Facebook, ни кто-либо другой. Мы не будем нигде размещать и никому передавать ваш номер WhatsApp, в том числе и на Facebook», — заверяет WhatsApp.

Опрошенные Би-би-си эксперты считают, что изменение политики конфиденциальности WhatsApp, согласно которой мессенджер поделится номерами пользователей с Facebook для возможности отправки «релевантных» предложений, заставят некоторых пользователей мессенджера почувствовать себя обманутыми. «Когда WhatsApp был куплен Facebook, он заверил пользователей в том, что будет оставаться независимым», — напомнила Би-би-си главный аналитик компании Ovum Памела Кларк-Диксон. Она добавила, что WhatsApp следует быть очень осторожным, поскольку многие используют мессенджер, потому что не получают там рекламу.

В сообщении WhatsApp говорится, что данные функции будут тестироваться в течение следующих нескольких месяцев.
