Основатель организации WikiLeaks Джулиан Ассанж получил удостоверение личности Эквадора.

Об этом сообщает Сегодня со ссилкой на El Comercio.

Удостоверение на имя Ассанжа было зарегистрировано в системе гражданского регистра Эквадора под номером 1729926483.

Министерство иностранных дел Эквадора на данный момент не прокомментировало данное решение.

Напомним, сайт Wikileaks получил известность после публикации секретных материалов Пентагона, Госдепартамента и других государственных органов США.

Ранее мать основателя WikiLeaks Джулиана Ассанжа призвала премьер-министра Австралии, гражданином которой является Ассанж, защитить своего сына.

"Я официально призываю Малкольма Тернбулла (главу правительства Австралии – ред.) вмешаться, вести себя как премьер-министр и защитить гражданина…", — заявила Кристин Ассанж.

Она также призвала оказать давление на власти Великобритании, чтобы они позволили ее сыну перебраться в Эквадор.

Джулиан Ассанж с 2012 года находится в посольстве Эквадора в Лондоне. Он попросил у эквадорских властей политического убежища в связи с опасениями экстрадиции шведскими властями в США из-за его деятельности в WikiLeaks.

Как стало известно 19 мая, прокуратура Швеции прекратила следствие по делу Ассанжа, подозреваемого в изнасиловании в 2010 году.
