Про це свідчать дані 15-го щорічного дослідження, яке проводить  Global Language Monitor,повідомляє Media Sapiens

Смайлики, що символізують серце та любов, з’являлися мільярди разів на день по всьому світу, незалежно від культури та мови.

Таким чином, вперше нагороду «Слово року» отримав умовний знак.

Цікаво також, що на другому місці у рейтингу опинилося не слово, а умовний знак «#», що використовується у соцмережах для позначення хештегу, на третьому – слово «vape» (курити електронну цигарку).

«Англійська мова сьогодні переживає вражаючу трансформацію, якої не було за її 1400-річну історію. Її система письма, алфавіт поповнюються новими символами із дивовижної швидкістю», - каже Президент організації GLM Пол Паяк (Paul Payack).

Сьогодні близько 1000 символів використовуються для того, щоб виразити емоцію, вислів чи душевний стан. На думку організації Global Language Monitor, наступного року цей список може поповнити 35 нових смайлів
