Американський приватний детектив Род Уілер (Rod Wheeler) подав до суду на телеканал Fox News і журналістку Малію Циммерман, пише Media Sapiens

Позивач стверджує, що журналістка в своєму матеріалі приписала йому твердження, які він ніколи не висловлював. Род Уілер зазначає, що ніколи не казав про зв’язок співробітника національного комітету демократичної партії США Сета Конрада Річа (Seth Conrad Rich) з сайтом WikiLeaks. Також він не стверджував, що розслідуванню вбивства Річа заважає «хтось в керівництві округу Колумбія, комітеті демократів або команді Клінтон».

Матеріал журналістки Малії Циммерман вийшов 16 травня, але згодом був видалений. У ньому обидва наведені вище твердження були приписані Роду Уілеру, однак він заперечує, що казав щось подібне. За словами детектива, про такі припущення він чув лише від самої Циммерман та від прихильника Трампа  - Еда Бутовськи, який і залучив детектива до розслідування вбивства. Крім того,  Бутовськи брав участь в підготовці статті. Він та Циммерман стверджували, що цю інформацію вони отримали від джерела в ФБР.

Род Уілер також розповів, що на швидкій публікації статті наполягав сам Дональд Трамп, який і вплинув на викривлення його слів у матеріалі.

Телеканал Fox News усі звинувачення відкидає. Представник каналу Джей Уоллес (Jay Wallace) сказав, що немає ніяких «конкретних доказів» того, що слова Рода Уілера були неправильно процитовані. Fox News також не дозволив Малії Циммерман самій прокоментувати судовий позов.

Нагадаємо, співробітник національного комітету демократичної партії США Сет Річ був убитий 10 липня 2016 року. Згідно з повідомленням поліції, він був убитий під час пограбування. Сайт WikiLeaks пообіцяв виплатити нагороду в $20 000 тому, хто надасть інформацію щодо розслідування вбивства. Засновник WikiLeaks Джуліан Ассанж коментував розслідування убивства Сета Конрада Річа, але не спростував і не підтвердив, чи був Річ інформатором WikiLeaks. Втім, як коментує Heavy, WikiLeaks ніколи не обговорюють свої джерела та інформаторів.
