У п'ятницю, 24 лютого, на Філіппінах, прямо в приміщенні місцевого Сенату, заарештували запеклого опонента президента країни Родріго Дутерте сенатора Лейлу де Ліма, повідомляє Новое время

Де Ліма звинуватили в тому, що на посаді міністра юстиції вона нібито отримувала гроші від ув'язнених в обмін на дозвіл їм здійснювати торгівлю наркотиками на території пенітенціарних закладів.

Сенатор намагалася уникнути арешту, але, врешті-решт, здалася поліцейським.

"Я вірю в Бога, і подолаю все це. Врешті-решт правда стане відома і я доб'юся справедливості", - заявила вона під час затримання і додала, що є невинною, а всі звинувачення проти неї - надумані.

Соратники де Ліма вважають звинувачення проти неї політично мотивованими і сигналом від Дутерте про те, що він не зазнає критики і протистояння його політиці.

Нагадаємо, Родріго Дутерте вступив на посаду президента 30 червня 2016 року. З тих пір в країні, за даними поліції, без суду і слідства були вбиті понад 6000 можливих наркодилерів.

Нещодавно Дутерте пообіцяв запровадити у країні воєнний стан, якщо проблеми з наркотиками стануть "дуже серйозними".
