Кандидат в президенты от Демократической партии на президентских выборах 2016 Хиллари Клинтон заявила о своей готовности вернуться в политику, об этом она сообщила 17 марта, выступая на ежегодном мероприятии по случаю Дня святого Патрика, устроенном Обществом ирландских женщин США, сообщает "Голос Америки".

"Я чувствую то, что чувствуют многие мои друзья. Мне тяжело смотреть выпуски новостей", – заявила Клинтон. 

Политик отметила, что необходимо забыть о политических разногласиях и "прислушиваться друг к другу".

"Я готова выйти из леса, чтобы пролить свет и помочь другим двигаться вперед", – сказала она.

Хиллари Клинтон была сенатором от штата Нью-Йорк в 2001–2009 годах. После этого занимала должность госсекретаря США. На президентских выборах 2016 года демократ Клинтон проиграла своему сопернику от Республиканской партии Дональду Трампу.
