Це станеться після офіційного рішення уряду перейменування "Мексиканської затоки" на "Американську затоку". У Мексиці та інших країнах назва залишиться незмінною або буде вказано обидва варіанти. 

Зміни є частиною політики Google щодо адаптації географічних назв відповідно до офіційних рішень країн.
