Віце-канцлер Німеччини, міністр економіки Зігмар Габріель, який очолює Соціал-демократичну партію, відмовився балотуватися на посаду глави уряду ФРН.

Про це він заявив в інтерв'ю журналу Stern і газеті Die Zeit, передає DW.

Крім того, він підтвердив це на засіданні фракції СДПН у бундестазі.

При цьому замість себе в якості кандидата на посаду канцлера Габріель запропонував кандидатуру колишнього голови Європарламенту Мартіна Шульца.

Таким чином, екс-глава ЄП стане суперником нинішнього глави німецького уряду Ангели Меркель, яка буде балотуватися від консервативного Християнсько-демократичного союзу вже на четвертий термін.

Крім того, за словами Габріеля, очолити Соціал-демократичну партію також повинен Шульц.
