Колишньому президенту Румунії Йону Ілієску пред'явлено звинувачення в скоєнні злочинів проти людяності за насильницьке придушення протестів шахтарів влітку 1990 року.

Про це повідомив адвокат Андрій Джеорджеску після допиту екс-президента в Генеральній прокуратурі Румунії, передає Укрінформ.

"Колишній президент отримав статус обвинуваченого у цій справі, він обвинувачується в злочинах проти людяності. Йон Ілієску ознайомився зі справою, і тепер нам належить підготуватися до захисту в суді", - повідомив адвокат.

Сам Ілієску жодних заяв для преси не робив.

Справа про насильницьке придушення акцій протесту румунських шахтарів була відновлена в 2014 році. Військові прокурори Румунії не виключають: у разі, якщо вина Ілієску буде доведена, йому може загрожувати довічне тюремне ув'язнення.

У цій справі проходять ще 17 людей, серед яких і тодішній прем'єр-міністр Румунії Петре Роман.

Влітку 1990 року при насильницькому придушенні акцій протесту шахтарів, які увійшли в румунську історію під назвою "Мінеріада", чотири людини загинули, ще понад тисяча отримали вогнепальні поранення.
