Немецкий медиахолдинг Axel Springer планирует расширить свой глобальный новостной сервис Upday с 4 до 16 стран в 2017 году, пишет Financial Times. Upday – это новостной агрегатор, который наравне с алгоритмами, выбирающими определенные новости, использует и редакторов. Сервис заработал в феврале 2016 года в Германии, Польше, Великобритании и Франции. Эксклюзивным партнером Upday стала компания Samsung. В медиахолдинге заявили, что на более 10 млн смартфонах Samsung уже установлено приложение Upday.

В планах компании в ближайшее время открыть представительства в крупнейших городах западной Европы, среди которых Милан, Мадрид, Амстердам и Стокгольм, и вдвое увеличить редакционный состав (с 25 до 50 человек).

Upday планирует увеличить аудиторию своего сервиса с нынешних 8 млн человек до 20 млн к концу 2017 года и обогнать нынешнего лидера – приложение BBC News.
