Президент США Джо Байден влітку може зняти свою кандидатуру з виборчих перегонів на користь дружини колишнього президента США Барака Обами – Мішель Обами. Пише  німецьке видання Der Spiegel

 Як зазначається в публікації, в Демократичній партії США розглядають можливість того, що Байден може оголосити про своє рішення в серпні 2024 року під час партійноого з'їзду в Чикаго.

За інформацією видання, Мішель Обаму вже внесли до списку потенційних кандидатів, щодо яких проводять громадські слухання.

"Ідея жінки-президента надихає багатьох американців", – зазначає Der Spiegel.

Видання додає, що однією з причин можливого рішення Байдена є вік, і дві третини американців вважають його надто старим для того, щоб керувати країною ще чотири роки.

Багато американців висловлюються і проти того, аби експрезидент Дональд Трапм знову очолив Білий дім. На це впливають вік Трампа і численні судові справи проти нього.

Наприкінці квітня Байден під час вечері із кореспондентами у Білому домі пожартував над своїм майбутнім суперником на президентських перегонах Дональдом Трампом.
