Сенатор від штату Вермонт Берні Сандерс закликав підтримати кандидатуру Хілларі Клінтон на майбутніх президентських виборах в США.

Про це він заявив під час з’їзду Демократичної партії у Філадельфії, повідомляє ВВС Україна.

"Хілларі Клінтон повинна стати наступним президентом Сполучених Штатів," - сказав Сандерс.

Зазначається, що прихильники американського сенатора зустріли промову Сандерса овацією, хоча до цього вони освистували будь-яку згадку про Клінтон.

Раніше на підтримку Клінтон висловилася перша леді США Мішель Обама.

Нагадаємо, з'їзд Демократичної партії США розпочався на тлі масових протестівприхильників Берні Сандерса у зв'язку зі скандалом щодо витоку інформації.

Скандал виник після того, як WikiLeaks опублікував електронну переписку Національного комітету демократів - керівного апарату Демократичної партії. Листування викрило факт негласної підтримки Національним комітетом Хіларі Клінтон як можливого кандидата в президенти, та спроби погіршити шанси на висунення її найближчого опонента по партії Берні Сандерса.
