На Софийской площади в Киеве проходит акция "Пустые стулья" в поддержку украинских политзаключенных в России и оккупированном Крыму, а также пленных на оккупированной части Донецкой и Луганской областей.

Организаторы акции - PEN Ukraine и Центр гражданских свобод.

В акции принимают участие писатель Андрей Курков, актеры Антонина Хижняк, Олеся Жураковская и Ахтем Сеитаблаев, музыкант Александр Сидоренко (Фоззи), журналисты Юрий Макаров и Вахтанг Кипиани.

Организаторы разместили на Софийской площади 7 стульев, на каждом из которых прикрепили табличку с именем одного из украинцев, содержащихся в тюрьмах ОРДЛО и РФ. Это Юрий Гордейчук, Елена Пех, Тимур Ибрагимов, Марлен Асанов, Валерий Матюшенко, Денис Кащук, Осман Арифметов.

Участники акции рассказывают истории политзаключенных, зачитывают их стихи.

С конца 1980-х в мире отмечается День заключенного писателя, также известный как День пустых стульев. Пустые стулья на правозащитных акциях этого дня символизируют авторов, которые не могут быть с нами из-за заключения, преследования, исчезновения или убийства.

В связи с оккупацией Крыма и войной на востоке Украины акция "Пустые стулья" в Украине уже несколько лет посвящается не только украинским заключенным авторам, но и всем украинским заложникам Кремля.
