Компанія Unilever була публічно присоромлена як міжнародний прихильник та спонсор війни в Україні після того, як стала мішенню для протестувальників поблизу штаб-квартири компанії у Лондоні.

Протестувальники переробили білборд, який зображує українських військових у стилі відомих рекламних оголошень бренду Dove, що належить Unilever, а також має напис: «Helping to fund Russia’s war in Ukraine».

Організація Ukraine Solidarity Project стоїть за цією роботою. Вона була встановлена якраз після того, як компанію Unilever офіційно визналиспонсором війни в Україні, згідно з новим російським законом, який вимагає від усіх великих компаній, що працюють в країні, робити внески на військові потреби. Також з’ясувалося, що конгломерат FMGC заплатив москві 331 млн доларів податків минулого року.

У заяві для преси Unilever відстоює свою позицію щодо збереження відкритих «важливих» операцій в росії. У заяві сказано: «Ми розуміємо, чому лунають заклики до Unilever піти з росії. Ми також хочемо чітко заявити, що ми не намагаємося захистити або управляти нашим бізнесом в росії. Однак для таких компаній, як Unilever, які мають значну фізичну присутність в країні, вихід не є простим».
