Лидер ЛДПР Владимир Жириновский предложил сократить гимн РФ.

По словам политика, надо убрать куплет, где говорится о союзе братских народов, сообщает "Русская служба новостей".

«Кто эти народы сейчас? Фашисты и убийцы! Очень длинный гимн, самый длинный в мире, даже спортсмены не выдерживают», — сказал Жириновский.

15 сентября нижняя палата открыла осеннюю сессию. Перед началом обсуждения повестки дня представители фракций выступили с напутственным словом и определили свою работу на ближайшие четыре месяца.

В августе 2014 года Жириновский выступил с инициативой поменять гимн на «Боже, царя храни», а российский триколор заменить на имперский флаг (чёрно-жёлто-белый). Вместе с тем лидер ЛДПР предложил президенту России Владимиру Путину новую должность — верховный правитель.

Гимн России состоит из трёх куплетов с припевом. Он утверждён в 2000 году. С предложением написать новый текст для гимна на музыку советского времени, созданную Александром Александровым, выступил Владимир Путин. Автором слов стал Сергей Михалков. Строчка «Братских народов союз вековой» упоминается в припеве гимна, который повторяется трижды.
