Влада Туреччини закрила 16 телеканалів, 23 радіостанції, 45 газет, 15 журналів, 29 видавничих будинків і три новинних агентства.
 

Режимом надзвичайного стану, оголошений в Туреччині після спроби військового перевороту, передбачає право уряду на такі дії щодо ЗМІ. Серед закритих видань - агентство і радіо Cihan, газети Zaman і Today's Zaman, що входять в холдинг Feza. Холдинг пов'язують з рухом «Хізмет» Фетхуллаха Ґюлена, якого влада Туреччини вважає ініціатором заколоту, пише Media Sapiens

Закриття видань, які підозрюють у підтримці Ґюлена, і затримання журналістів викликало стурбованість серед правозахисних груп і урядів західних країн,повідомляє Reuters.  Сполучені Штати заявили в середу, що розуміють необхідність виявити організаторів спроби державного перевороту та притягнути їх до відповідальності. Але затримання журналістів - це «тривожна тенденція».

Вчора в країні було видано ордери на арешт 47 журналістів. На початку цього тижня в Туреччині було видано ордери на арешт 42 інших журналістів. Їх також підозрюють в причетності до організації прихильників Фехтуллаха Ґюлена.

Агентство Reuters вчора повідомило про затримання відомого журналіста Шахіна Алпая. В його будинку провели обшук, під час якого було вилучено певні документи.
