Компанія Microsoft випустила ПЗ, на основі якого можна розробляти програми з розпізнавання емоцій.

Демоверсію програми виклали на сайт Project Oxford у відкритий доступ. Згідно концепції, алгоритм робить висновки про настрій людини, аналізуючи вираз її обличчя на фотографії і прораховуючи співвідношення емоцій. В їх число входять гнів, презирство, відраза, страх, щастя, смуток і здивування. Окремим пунктом йде нейтральний вираз обличчя.

Результати відображаються в числовому форматі. Автори попередили, що програма поки не налагоджена і може допускати помилки при розпізнаванні.

Серед інших функцій, розпізнавання віку людини з фото. На його основі спеціалісти Microsoft у травні 2015 року зробили сервіс how-old.net.

Спроби створити систему, здатну вгадувати емоції по виразу обличчя, ведуться давно. Так у 2008 році таку програму представили дослідники департаменту з вивчення штучного інтелекту з Політехнічного університету мадридської обчислювальної школи.
