Кандидат у президенти США Дональд Трамп оголосив у понеділок, що має намір захищати християн, яких переслідують за віру.
 

"Ми будемо захищати християнство. Якщо ви подивитеся на те, що відбувається у всьому світі, подивіться на Сирію, то там, якщо ви християни, вони відрубують голови. Подивіться на різні місця: християнство в облозі", - заявив Трамп, виступаючи в Університеті Свободи в штаті Віргінія, пише Корреспондент

Університет Свободи відомий як інтелектуальний оплот євангельських християн. Євангельські християни становлять важливу частину виборців на майбутніх республіканських праймеріз.

69-мільярдер наголосив у своєму виступі, що сам є протестантом, хоча і не належить до євангелістів.

"Я протестант, і я дуже цим пишаюся. Щоб бути точним, я пресвітеріанець, але я цим пишаюся, дуже-дуже пишаюся", - заявив він.

Трамп бореться за голоси євангелістів з іншими консервативними кандидатами, насамперед з Тедом Крузом. Найближчі праймеріз - збори партійного активу в штаті Айова - відбудуться 1 лютого.
