Посол США в Україні Джефрі Пайєтт виступає за проведення місцевих виборів на підконтрольній Україні території Донецької області.

Про це він сказав на спільному брифінгу за результатами зустрічі  з головою Донецької облдержадміністрації Павлом Жебрівським у Краматорську, повідомляє сайт ДОГТ.

- Також ми обговорювали питання місцевих виборів, які призначені по всій Україні на жовтень цього року. Я зазначив, що місцеві вибори в таких містах, як Маріуполь, Краматорськ, Слов'янськ є дуже важливими, щоб продемонструвати, що це частина України, - сказав посол.

Павло Жебрівський, у свою чергу, підкреслив, що  рішення про вибори на звільненій території лишається за парламентом і президентом, хоча   на його думку, місцеві вибори варто проводити  після завершення територіально-адміністративної реформи:

- Моє бачення, що мають бути введені військово-цивільні адміністрації, і вибори на всій території Донецької області мають бути проведені після проведення адміністративно-територіальної реформи у повному об’ємі у 2017 році з передачею повноважень на місця. – сказав він.
