В Литве наступил «день тишины» перед назначенными на воскресенье, 11 мая, президентскими выборами.

Как пояснила главная избирательная комиссия, агитация, согласно закону, запрещается за 30 часов до начала голосования и в день выборов до окончания голосования. Исключение составляют рекламные плакаты кандидатов, постоянно размещенные на оборудованных самоуправлениями стендах в определенных местах, передает ИТАР-ТАСС.

Голосование начнется 11 мая в 07:00 по местному времени. Таким образом, мораторий на предвыборную агитацию вступает в силу в субботу в 01:00.

Правом голоса на президентских выборах обладают 2,541 млн совершеннолетних граждан Литвы. Всего в стране проживают немногим менее 3 млн человек.

На пост главы государства претендуют семь кандидатов. Фаворитом эксперты считают действующего президента Далю Грибаускайте.

Отметим, глава государства избирается прямым тайным голосованием сроком на пять лет. Для кандидатов существует возрастной ценз — 40 лет. Кроме того, претендент на высший пост должен быть гражданином республики по происхождению и проживать здесь не менее трех последних лет.
