Как выяснилось, пользователи сети были недовольны, что новые прически-косички рекламируют белые модели, что неуважительно по отношению к черной культуре, которая внесла огромную лепту в такое плетение косичек.

В свою очередь, салон The Braid Bar разместил на сайте пост-извинение со следующим контекстом: «Мы осознали, что не уделили достаточного внимания разным культурам во время создания рекламы. Мы были наивны и не подумали о многих вещах, на которые раскрыли глаза ваши комментарии. The Braid Bar гостеприимное место, наши двери всегда открыты для людей любой расы, национальности и гендерной принадлежности».
Чтобы сгладить ситуацию, салон сделал публикацию еще одной фотографии в Instagram, на которой запечатлена темнокожая модель.
