78-летний политик прервал агитационное мероприятие в Неваде из-за резких болей в груди. Сандерса доставили в больницу, где ему диагностировали ишемическую болезнь сердца. Врачи провели операцию – и разблокировали кровоток в артерии.

Политик написал в Twitter, что уже идет на поправку.

"Спасибо за все пожелания здоровья. Я чувствую себя хорошо. Мне повезло, что у меня хорошая программа медобслуживания: отличные доктора и медсестры помогают мне восстанавливаться", - сообщил Сандерс.
